Zurich Canada Appoints Manuel Lewin as New Chief Risk Officer
Zurich Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of Manuel Lewin as Chief Risk Officer, effective February 17. Lewin will join the Zurich Canada Executive Committee and report to Zurich Canada CEO Saad Mered and Zurich North America Chief Risk Officer Ann Chai.
As Chief Risk Officer, Lewin will oversee all aspects of risk management for Zurich Canada. He will ensure that risk policies and frameworks are effectively implemented to protect the company's business and support its strategic goals. His responsibilities will include conducting risk assessments, developing risk insights, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
"We are delighted to welcome Manuel to the Zurich Canada team. His extensive background and leadership in risk management and compliance will be instrumental in driving Zurich Canada's continued success,” said Saad Mered, Zurich Canada CEO. “His support and guidance will be crucial as our leadership team navigates the rapidly changing risk landscape during this time of macro volatility, while we continue to invest in our growth.”
With 17 years of experience in risk management, compliance, sustainability, and investment within Zurich, Lewin brings a wealth of expertise to his new role. Lewin joins Zurich Canada following a five-year tenure as Chief Risk & Compliance Officer for Cover-More Group.
Prior to his time at Cover-More Group, he served as Zurich’s Head of Risk Strategy and Reporting, where he conducted Group-level risk assessments and developed new risk insights for management and regulators. Earlier in his career, he held the position of Zurich’s Head of Responsible Investment, contributing significantly to Zurich's leadership in responsible investments.
Lewin succeeds Sonia Kundi, who has recently taken on the newly created role of Global Chief Risk Officer for Zurich Cover-More.
